VLE, Virtual Environment Laboratory, is a multimodeling, simulation platform based on the discrete event formalism DEVS (Discrete Event System Specification). VLE provides a set of C++ libraries, the VFL (VLE Foundation Libraries) and a lot of programs like a simulator, a graphical user interface to model and develop models and tools to analyze and visualize simulation outputs. The VFL are sufficiently well designed to allow the development of new simulators, models or new programs for modeling and analysis.

Our goal with VLE is to provide powerful tools for modeling, simulation and analysis and easy to use in complying with the DEVS specification DEVS. and work research that cling to the simulation community. We are also pursuing the objective to develop and maintain a community of users and developers using an open, agile and community oriented development.

    • Two weeks after the last release candidate, the list of changes being sufficiently short, the activity of the tracker is close to 0, it is the hour to release a final version 0.8. Now, the branch 0.8 becomes the stable version of VLE. We will give up the maintenance of the last branch 0.7 in next weeks. In a few days, we will produce some reports of > \features request on the tracker and the website. Lastly, for the next version of VLE, we return to a shorter development cycle.

    • After 11 months of development, we offer a first release candidate for the 0.8 branch of VLE. There are still bugs in the GUI but it is usable. From now, on branch 0.8, we fix bugs and we try to not break API and ABI. Files are available from websites: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vle/ and http://www.vle-project.org/.
  • January 2010: The VLE web site supports multi-language
    • The use of the multi-language support is quite simple. Just write "/en" as a suffix of the name of the web page if you write in english. You can use other suffix ("/de" for german for instance) to write pages in any usable language.
